A few hours ago, we told you that Kaspersky Antivirus on Windows 10 is only possible with some patches, but many NOD32 users asked about the compatibility of ESET's software with Microsoft's latest operating system too.

After some digging into ESET's documentation, it turns out that only the latest version of the company's security solution works with Windows 10. Specifically, in terms of business products, you must be running ESET Endpoint Antivirus 5.x or 6.x, while for consumers ESET NOD32 Antivirus version 7 and 8 and ESET Smart Security version 7 and 8 are required.

In case you are running a version older than the ones mentioned here, the application won't work after the upgrade to Windows 10.

Automatic upgrade after Windows 10 install

Microsoft developed the Windows 10 upgrade to make everything smoother and easier for users, so the antivirus solution will be automatically updated when moving to the new operating system.

So if you're running an older version of ESET NOD32, it will be automatically updated to a version that works on Windows 10.

ESET explains:

“If you do upgrade to Windows 10 with an incompatible version of your ESET product installed, you will be prompted to upgrade to the latest version of your ESET product after you upgrade to Windows 10. Click OK and latest version of your ESET product will be installed via Live Installer. If you experience issues during the upgrade process, contact ESET Customer Care.”

ESET recommends all its users to upgrade to the latest version of its antivirus software before the upgrade to Windows 10. This way, the process should be smoother, the company says, and any compatibility issues that might arise during the upgrade are fixed before everything.

Obviously, the latest version of ESET's software is here on Softpedia, so go download NOD32 Antivirus or Smart Security right now.
