Even if it might not become your everyday web browser, Epiphany is getting much-deserved attention from the GNOME Project, which plans on implementing many new features for the next major release, Epiphany 3.24.

A new development version of the upcoming GNOME 3.24 desktop environment, due for release on March 22, 2017, is being planned for tomorrow, January 18, and there's a new Epiphany web browser snapshot released for the 3.23.4 unstable series.

The Epiphany 3.23.4 snapshot implements a feature that many other web browsers have had for a long time - the "Copy Image" context menu item that, obviously, would allow users to copy a certain image from a web page to clipboard.

It also adds support for displaying internationalized domain name (IDN) URLs, a new tab menu to better handle a large number of tabs, as well as a new keyboard shortcut (Alt+D) to help you bring focus to the address bar.

Improvements like the ability for the "New Tab" button to move to the tab bar when this isn't visible, support for not offering to remember empty passwords, and better Alt+Left/Right keyboard shortcuts have also been added to Epiphany 3.23.4.

Not to mention the fact that the web browser can now display store permissions for hosts in the info bar instead of the current page, and animate the appearance of the "Add Bookmark" and "Security Indicator" popovers.

Epiphany 3.22.5 is now available as the latest stable release

While the Epiphany 3.23.4 unstable release improves many other components of the web browser, including the upcoming Firefox Sync support and the "Press key to exit full-screen" message, it looks like there's now a new stable release, Epiphany 3.22.5.

This is just a small bugfix release of the Epiphany 3.22 stable series, adding the ability to no longer offer to remember empty passwords, and fixing a memory leak that occurred when closing a tab before the permission request info bar.

It also addresses a regression from Epiphany 3.22.4 related to the tenth web page missing in the overview, makes the "Press key to exit fullscreen" message legible, and displays store permissions for hosts in the info bar, not the current page.

Both Epiphany 3.22.5 and Epiphany 3.23.4 builds are now available for download from our website, but you should soon receive the new stable release through the official software repositories of your favorite GNU/Linux distribution, so update when possible.
