Meet the Entroware Hybris R1 and Apollo R3 laptops

Entroware, the UK-based hardware manufacturer, known for delivering high-quality, Linux-based desktops, laptops, and servers solutions powered by the popular Ubuntu operating system, today announced two new products.

The company has informed us about the general availability of Entroware Hybris R1 and Entroware Apollo R3 laptops, which come pre-loaded with either Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS, Ubuntu 17.04, Ubuntu MATE 16.04.2 LTS, or Ubuntu MATE 17.04. While Entroware Apollo is designed for office use or as a portable office solution for people on the go, Entroware Hybris is perfect for Linux gaming.

"At just 17.8mm thin and from 1.3KG, the iconic Apollo is the perfect ultra mobile Linux laptop for people who need to work on the move," says Entroware in the press announcement. Powered by Intel’s Kaby Lake processors and optional Nvidia 10 Series Graphics, the Hybris is perfect for games, rendering, 3D modeling and GPU optimized data processing."

We'll start with Entroware Hybris R1's specifications as we be that most of you Linux gamers out there are waiting impatiently for a powerful gaming rig to play all those awesome games they just bought during the Steam Summer Sale. Two variants are available for this model, with Intel Core i5 7300HQ or Intel Core i7 7700HQ (Kaby Lake) processors.

The laptop comes with a generous 17-inch display Matte IPS display that offers a full HD (1920x1080) resolution, up to 32GB DDR4 RAM, up to 6TB SSD storage with both PCIe and NVMe options, white LED backlit full keyboard with number pad and international options, as well as Intel integrated graphics or a dedicated Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 with 4GB RAM.

On the other hand, Entroware Apollo R3's technical specifications are more light, as the laptop features a 17.8mm thin profile using a premium Aluminium chassis. According to Entroware, Ubuntu laptops have never looked better until today, and Apollo does lives up to its name offering users a gorgeous 13-inch laptop with a full HD (1920x1080) display and LTE capability.

Under the hood, Entroware Apollo R3 can be powered by either an Intel Pentium 4415U, Intel Core i3 7100U, Intel Core i5 7200U, or Intel Core i7 7500U processors, up to 32GB DDR4 RAM, and up to 6TB SSD storage with PCIe and NVMe options. The white LED backlit keyboard with international options is also available on this model, which comes with Intel integrated graphics.

As far as the price goes, you'll be getting a whole lot of bang for your buck as the new Ubuntu laptops from Entroware will cost you as little as £529.99 (€598) for the Apollo model and £659.99 (€745) for the more powerful Hybris.
