Simon Lees from the Enlightenment project announced this past week the general availability of yet another bugfix and stability release for the Enlightenment 0.21 desktop environment stable series.

Enlightenment 0.21.7 is now the most stable version of the desktop environment/window manager, which is used with success on many popular GNU/Linux distributions, and a total of 45 changes have been included in this update to improve various components and offer users a more stable Enlightenment experience.

Among the components that received attention in this update, we can mention the file manager, theme, xsettings, compositor, notifications, PulseAudio sound mixer, as well as the tiling and evry modules. The update also reverts the "attempt to re-set wl surface pointer when popping back to 'default' pointer type" change from a previous version.

Also reverted in this release are the "re-enable getting and setting output rotations in wl_drm" and "e - wl mode - stop consuming 100 percent cpu" modifications implemented in another update. You can find the full changelog attached below if you're curious to know what exactly has been changed in Enlightenment 0.21.7.

The Wayland support has been improved

As with any new maintenance update to the Enlightenment desktop environment, the Wayland support has been improved. For example, Enlightenment 0.21.7 makes the xwayland process start exactly 2 seconds after all modules have been loaded and the Wayland frame callbacks to be dispatched in the right order.

Enlightenment 0.21.7 is available for download right now on our website if you want to compile it on your favorite GNU/Linux distribution, but we recommend that you update your systems or make a new installation of the Enlightenment desktop environment directly from the stable repositories of the operating system you're using.
