Endless Computers have released a new updated of their Linux-based operating system, Endless OS 3.3.6, bringing various improvements and the latest software apps.

Endless OS 3.3.6 is currently rolling out to existing users, and it introduces sign-on improvements by allowing users that use a mix of English and non-English words in their passwords to more easily unlock their computers. Moreover, the new release adds the latest Flatpak and Flatpak Builder tools to improve the apps ecosystem.

These include hardware-acceleration graphics support for apps on ARM devices like Endless Mini and Mission Mini, improvements to language and localization selection, add missing icons for some apps, as well as to prevent situations where apps can't connect to the Internet when switching between wireless networks.

Better Chromium performance, updated apps

Endless OS's default web browser, Chromium, has been updated in the new release to version 62, shipping with some in-house modifications to increase its overall performance and protect newly opened tabs from being automatically reloaded when the user clicks away from them and then return, preventing crashes as well.

Several of the pre-installed apps have been updated to their latest versions. These include Google Chrome, Skype, Dropbox, Google Play Music Desktop, Nature is Speaking, Primer and Manila Times (Philippines), Pergidulu and Diah Didi’s Kitchen (Indonesia), Pob pad and Khaosod English (Thailand), and Omelete (Brazilian Portuguese).

The Movement, Kids, Funny Videos, Animations, Animal Kingdom, and NDTV Sports (India) apps have been updated as well. Endless OS 3.3.6 is now available for download from the official website for new installations, but existing users need only to update their installations using the built-in update system. More details about Endless OS can be found on the distro's homepage if you want to install it on your personal computer.
