Endless OS, the user-friendly, powerful, easy-to-use, and fast Linux-based operating system that comes preloaded with over 100 applications and tools, some of which work offline, has been updated to version 3.2.

Endless OS 3.2 is a major update that comes half a year after the release of the 3.1 series, which received no less than eight bug fix releases. It introduces a significant number of improvements, both under the hood and user visible ones that promise to enhance the user experience of the operating system.

Prominent new features of Endless OS 3.2 include a refreshed desktop interface that looks even greater than before and makes it easier than ever to find the stuff you need when you need it the most. It also moves the user menu to the bottom right of the screen, and makes the Endless logo take users straight to their desktops.

The bottom panel was updated as well with some cool new features like calendar notifications, but it removes the Facebook integration, which means that users will have to add the Facebook web app as a shortcut manually. Furthermore, desktop folders now display the apps they contain.

More offline apps, MP3 encoding, suspend on desktop computers

Among other exciting changes implemented in Endless OS 3.2 we can mention the addition of more offline apps that should benefit users in Southeast Asia, support for encoding audio files using the MP3 file format, and the integration of a lock screen/screensaver. Also, newly created user accounts now have no password set by default

"When you set up your Endless machine for the first time or add a new user, the default is now to create accounts with no password," explain the devs. "This is simpler for users setting up Endless computers at home, and should reduce complications faced by people who have lost their passwords."

Natural scrolling is now also supported for mice, it's now possible to suspend the OS to RAM on desktop computers, the VideoNet and Endless Weather apps were replaced with a YouTube web app and the GNOME Weather app respectively, and the boot menu was improved on UEFI computers.

Last but not least, Endless OS is now longer compatible with the Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems, it's now possible to install Flatpak apps through the Endless App Center graphical package manager, and bindings are now available for developers who want to write offline apps using Electron and Node.js.

Since this is a major release, Endless OS developers recommend that you update your installations as soon as possible by going into Settings -> Details -> Check for Updates Now. A system reboot will be required after updating to Endless OS 3.2, and installations images will soon be available for download from the official website.
