Developer Amplitude Studios has announced that its upcoming fantasy turn-based strategy game Endless Legend is set for release on September 18.

The 4X game is currently available on Steam Early Access, but the dev is getting ready for its full launch, allowing those who like a little fantasy mixed in with their strategy to experience a brand new video game that brings a few twists.

Furthermore, on September 19, Amplitude is also releasing the boxed edition of the game, that comes alongside an art book.

The game is set in the same universe that the company's previous strategy game, Endless Space, is set in, only this time around, instead of conquering the galaxy, players are tasked with exploring the humble beginnings of eight different civilizations, in the distant past.

Endless Legend looks like a blend of Civilization V and Endless Space, keeping the same food, industry, dust and science resource system, and exploring the planet's history, unveiling the mysteries of an unexplained apocalypse.

The game is faithful to the classic explore, expand, exploit and exterminate formula, and introduces a number of innovative features to the gameplay that turn-based enthusiasts are familiar with.
