The 67th annual prime-time television awards, the Emmys 2015, wrapped up a short while ago. The ceremony was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and was hosted by comedian Andy Samberg.

As was to be expected, it was an amazing, super glam night: after all, the Emmys are the Oscars of television. In addition to the gorgeous fashion on the red carpet, both from the ladies and the gents, it included spectacular moments, funny bits and a few instances that left viewers at home scratching their heads.

We’ll discuss some of those later on today, but for now, let’s focus on the winners.

A truly historic night

It was a truly historic night, as Viola Davis became the first African-American actress to take home the award for Best Actress, for her work on “How to Get Away with Murder.”

Another major achievement went to Uzo Aduba, star of the hit dramedy “Orange Is the New Black,” who became the second person to win an award both in the Drama and the Comedy categories for the same role. This was her second win for the hit Netflix series.

Other big winners of the night were series like “Game of Thrones,” “Veep,” “Olive Kitterige” and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

HBO’s biggest series right now, the epic “Game of Thrones,” beat stiff competition from “Mad Men,” “House of Cards,” “Orange Is the New Black,” “Homeland,” “Downton Abbey” and newcomer “Better Call Saul” to take home the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series. And that wasn’t the only Emmy GoT won, either.

Julia Louis Dreyfus capped off another spectacular year by taking home another Emmy for “Veep” and thus adding a fourth golden statuette to her already pretty impressive collection. Allison Janney won the seventh Emmy of her career, for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in “Mom.”
