Eminem did say that, for his new video for “Phenomenal,” which is included on the “Southpaw” soundtrack, he wanted to do something different and he wasn’t lying. As promised, the video premiered on Apple Music a short while ago and is best described as a 7-minute action film.

So you get to see Eminem turn into a superhero on a quest to find out who he really is, after waking up in a hospital and finding out that, while he has no recollection of his life from before, he has superpowers that make him undefeatable in combat.

That is, you get to see him if you have $1.99 to spare to pay Apple to allow you access to the full video. If you don’t, you only get a short preview with a scene on a hospital hall, after Eminem wakes up. A teaser is also included below.

The full video shows him engaging - and defeating - plenty more foes, outrunning them before escaping on a helicopter that he eventually blows up. He ends up on a stage, mic in hand, and he remembers who he is.

John Malkovich, Randall Park and the Apple Watch (of course!) make cameos.

“Phenomenal” is the leading single off the “Southpaw” OST. Some hours before the video dropped on Apple Music, Em released another song from the album, “Kings Don’t Die,” featuring Gwen Stefani. You can find that one below as well, *but please be advised that discretion is recommended as it contains language that might offend.
