Ellen Pompeo says Daniel Craig needs “a reality check” for speaking ill of his own James Bond movies

The other day, another Daniel Craig interview came out, part of the press tour for the latest James Bond installment, “SPECTRE.” In it, Craig said that he would rather “slit [his] wrists” than do another film right now, because he was too exhausted from “SPECTRE” to want to even think about it right now.

Because the slitting of the wrists comment makes for an excellent sound bite, it’s the one that most media outlets ran with. Ellen Pompeo, star of the hit medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy,” also saw it online and clearly didn’t bother to read the whole interview, before she proceeded to tell the world on Twitter that “this dude needs a reality check!”

Many of her fans agreed with it (it’s always in extremely bad form to badmouth the movies or shows you’re on, because it makes you look like an ungrateful, unprofessional brat), but some also pointed out to her that context is essential.

As you probably guessed from the first paragraph of this post, it was so in Craig’s case: he wasn’t speaking against the franchise, he was merely saying death was a less painful option than that of going back to work on another installment after an extended 8-month shoot across the world for “SPECTRE.”

In replies to her followers, Pompeo even admitted that Craig might have been misquoted because something similar had happened to her as well. He wasn’t, but she did need context to better understand his apparently disrespectful comment.
