Elephone is one of those Chinese device makers that are slowly stepping outside the large circle of anonymity. A few months ago, you would have heard Elephone’s name and shrugged it off, but these days, the company is teasing us with pretty awesome products.

Following Xiaomi’s business model, which became popular due to the company’s willingness to provide more than decently specced smartphones at affordable prices, Elephone is packing some monster specs inside its upcoming flagship. The device maker calls it the Vowney 4GB, and the phone has just popped up in a video teaser. Elephone will also have a Vowney Lite version available for purchase with watered-down specs.

If the name isn’t obvious enough for you, we’ll spell it out that the Vowney features a hefty 4GB of RAM on board in combination with a powerful octa-core MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10 processor. We’re told the phone should make it out into the wild with a 5.5-inch display with 2K resolution (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) and 535 ppi.

Elephone Vowney with Android or Windows?

What’s more, the Vowney 4GB takes advantage of an advanced 21MP main camera with Sony IMX 230 sensor capable of shooting 4K video and 120fps slow-motion. There’s also a secondary 8MP for your selfie-taking pleasure.

The base model of the Vowney is said to ship out with 32GB of internal storage (we’re not told anything about the microSD card slot). Elephone also throws in 4G connectivity for TD-LTE and FDD-LTE networks.

The phone will be offered in gray (aluminum), gold, black and white for $299 / €268. The model teased in the video obviously shows the device running Android Lollipop, but we know that the company will be offering a Windows 10 version as well. The earlier leak said that this variation would arrive on the market as soon as October 10.

As for the Vowney Lite, the phone will feature a full HD display with 1920 x 1080 screen resolution, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. We’re not told the exact size of the device and what processor we can expect to find on board. The phone should make it on the market with a price tag of less than $250 / €224.

Both models will come equipped with a fingerprint sensor that apparently works no matter how you place your finger on it.
