Chinese device maker Elephone is a pretty unknown brand name if you think about it. A year ago, if you talked about Elephone, no one would have recognized the name. But that’s slowly changing because the company does have some interesting models integrated into its portfolio.

At some point this summer, we told you that Elephone was prepping the P9000 model, which would have bundled a deca-core silicone piece coming from MediaTek dubbed Helio X20, according to some sources.

Now, the folks at Fone Arena have managed to get their hands on a bunch of renders showing the E9000, which reveal a few interesting surprises. We’re also given some information about the specs we can expect to see on board.

The current source says that the E9000 will arrive in three versions: the high-end P9000 which features a bezeless design, the P9000 Lite that comes with a slim bezel, and the P9000C which is a low-cost variant.

Elephone P9000 will take advantage of MediaTek's new octa-core processor

According to the report, the new Elephone handset will be powered by a Helio P10 chipset, MediaTek’s first processors from the Helio P series. The new Helio P10 is aimed at mid-range to high-end smartphones. It has 2GHz true octa-core 64-bit Cortex A53 CPUs with 700MHz dual-core 64-bit Mali T860 GPU. It’s based on TSMC’s 28nm HPC+ process.

The handset should make it out with an unknown screen size boasting 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. Elephone is also willing to throw in 4G LTE, a hefty 4GB of RAM, NFC, a 21MP rear camera, Quick Charge support, and a fingerprint scanner.

All sounds pretty good, but we would have liked to see a QHD display instead of the FHD one. However, since the information has yet to be officially confirmed, we may still cling on to hope that the final product will feature a more advanced resolution.

Another interesting aspect we notice in the press renders is the atypical form factor of one of the upcoming Elephone 9000 versions. The second picture shows a device that comes with square-ish angles and is certainly unlike anything we have seen before.

All three models boast unibody design and a metal frame. Do you like what you're seeing?
