elementary OS 0.2, one of the best-looking Linux distributions in existence, was released in August 2013, but the developers are not standing idle and are working on the next version. A development version is available for download, if you want to try it out.

The upcoming elementary OS version that will probably be released this year is called “Isis” and everyone is expecting to see what the developers have changed. It's likely that “Isis” will look very different from the current development version, but you can take a look nonetheless.

Even if the new version is marked 2014, it still looks a lot like the old version, although it packs a number of updated packages. From what we can see right now, it still ships with Midori, Geary, and the Ubuntu Software Center, but most importantly, it's still based on uses GNOME 3.4.1.

This is mostly because elementary OS is still based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, which features that version of GNOME, but the developers have made great strides towards providing their own packages, like a window manager or their own shell.

In any case, if you want to see how the latest version of elementary OS looks like, just download the latest version from Softpedia.
