As expected, HTC’s upcoming flagship will feature all the premium specs that we’ve seen in many high-end smartphones launched this year. But the phone’s main selling point will surely be the Edge Sense feature.

Much has been said about the Edge Sense and the feature even appeared in an HTC video and teaser, promoting the U 11’s frame that allows users to squeeze the phone and get access to multiple apps and settings.

To make it easier for users to get accustomed with the Edge Sense feature, HTC is preparing a new application, which it briefly revealed in the Play store. The app is called HTC Edge Sense, but it was delisted soon after being published.

Gestures for launching Google Assistant and snapping pictures

Still, some images and details were retrieved by Android Police, revealing that the HTC Edge Sense app comes with a tutorial for U 11 users to squeeze the phone’s frame and thus get access to various features. Images also show multiple gestures for taking pictures or launching Google Assistant.

HTC will most likely offer configuration options inside the Edge Sense app, but there aren’t images portraying this or showing the settings menu. From what we’ve gathered so far, HTC will offer a list of app shortcuts at the edge of the display, whenever users squeeze their U 11 phones.

Recently, HTC released a teaser showing that the upcoming smartphone will feature 36-degree sound recording, through its four dedicated microphones. The phone will also come with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 platform, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Front camera capacity will reach 16MP, while the rear camera will have a 12MP sensor.

HTC intends to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack and offer users an adaptor in the box, while the phone is also said to feature a 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. Only a few days are left until HTC will finally unveil the U 11 flagship on May 16.
