Acer's eMachines has just announced the introduction of two new small form factor desktop PCs, part of its latest EL1300 series of desktop systems. In addition, the system vendor also announced the launch of a new 18.5-inch widescreen LCD, specifically designed to go along with the EL1300 series of PCs. Both models are featured with a low-power processor from AMD and integrated graphics from NVIDIA, coming together to provide users with a basic, Vista-ready desktop PC that takes less space on their desk but also reduces the power requirements.

“Alternative color choices have been making their way into notebook lines for some time now,” said Glenn Jystad, senior manager, desktop products, eMachines. “With the arrival of spring and summer, it’s the perfect time to introduce a fresh, clean alternative color choice to our desktops and monitors, bringing an exciting new look and feel to desktop PCs. The amount of thought and effort put into the aesthetics and new design features of the new desktops and monitors is significant,” said Jystad. “The price and capabilities are right on target, and the sleek ultra-modern design offers more style than many PCs costing twice as much.”

For a starting price of US$298, the new eMachines EL1300G-01w is powered by an AMD Athlon 2650e running on 1.6GHz and the NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE integrated graphics solution. Equipped with 2GB of DDR2 memory and a 160GB SATA hard drive, the system is fully capable of running Microsoft Windows Vista. It can also allow users to take advantage of a built-in multi-in-one digital media card reader, a SuperMulti Optical Drive, 9 USB 2.0 ports and USB-powered stereo speakers.

Alongside the EL1300G-01w, eMachines has also introduced the EL1300G-02w, which basically sports the same hardware as the first model, but comes with Microsoft's Windows XP with SP3 operating system and a white 20-inch widescreen LCD with built-in speakers. This model is rated at a price tag of US$398.

With the announcement of the two small form factor desktop PCs, eMachines also announced the introduction of a new 18.5-inch widescreen LCD, capable of a maximum HD resolution of 1366 by 768. Priced at US$119, the monitor comes with built-in stereo speakers and boasts a single VGA input.
