Version 0.9.43 of the eBook reader and management software Calibre has been announced on August 9, marking a milestone for this amazing program.

Even though the numbering may not suggest it, Calibre is considered to be a stable version. All its functionalities are working as they should and the developer is usually just fixing problems or adding small features.

Calibre 0.9.43 follows the same trend set by the previous versions and it features a small changelog. Nonetheless, some of the changes proposed in this version are pretty interesting.

First of all, the .TXT file input has been improved and now various markdown extensions are allowed. This change gives the user more features when converting markdown formatted .TXT files.

The Send by Mail option has been also improved and now users are allowed to use an arbitrary combination of email address. This option can be accessed via the “Select recipients” menu entry in the Email To menu.

Also, a new “Sort By” action has been added to the right-click menu. In this way, users will be able to sort all the columns in the library, not just the visible ones. To use this function you will have to go to Preferences->Toolbars and add it to 'The context menu for books in the Calibre library.

Users can now skip the confirm bulk reconvert dialogue. This makes the entire conversion process a lot quicker by eliminating an unnecessary intermediary window.

A complete changelog can be found in the announcement. You can also check out our review of Calibre.

Keep in mind that if you want to compile the software yourself, you will need GLIBC 2.10 or higher, and xdg-utils and python ≥ 2.6 installed (3.x will not work). More details about the required dependencies can be found on the official website.
