Millions of Windows Phone fans did not want to wait until Microsoft made Windows Phone 8.1 available for the general public and installed the Developer Preview that went live last week.

Even though many of them are not developers, they will certainly provide valuable feedback for Microsoft, as the company is now polishing the operating system and sends it to OEMs.

However, some developers who did not update their creations in a long time are now working hard to make them perfectly suitable with the requirements of Windows Phone 8.1.

One of the popular applications for Windows Phone platform, eBay, has just received a major update that will probably make many users change their ratings on Windows Phone Store.

eBay for Windows Phone has only 3 stars out of 5 from around 2,500 votes, which points to a rather mediocre application. Hopefully, the latest update will improve user experience and bring more options and enhanced performance.

First of all, developers have confirmed that the latest version of eBay has been rebuilt and revamped for Windows Phone 8. Lots of new features and improvements have been included in the latest update for eBay, and some have already been listed on Windows Phone Store.

For example, the search has been made much easier thanks to the newly refined carousel that will help users find exactly what they want.

More importantly, eBay has added an option that will now allow users to shop globally by changing the eBay site in Settings, giving users access to eBay markets all over the world.

eBay users will also receive notifications when their purchases have been sent, so they can track them with ease. Furthermore, you can now pin an item as a Live Tile and track its status directly on the phone’s home screen.

The application also allows users to browse Daily Deals on their personalized eBay feed directly from the home screen. You can also buy an item directly from the application.

Last but not least, developers claim that thanks to the application’s improved notifications system, users can bid with confidence as they will be notified every time they have been outbid or when an item’s auction is ending. Keep in mind that many other new features and improvements have been added, but eBay did no share any more details on these.

You can now download eBay for Windows Phone 8 1.5.0.12 for free via Windows Phone Store. The application is only compatible with devices powered by Windows Phone 8 and up (including 8.1).
