dyne:bolic is a Live CD where you don't need to install anything, you don't even need a hard drive to run an operating system full of free software, running out of the box on your PC!
dyne:bolic is shaped on the needs of media activists and artists as a practical tool for multimedia production. You can manipulate and broadcast both sound and video with tools to record, edit, encode and stream. dyne:bolic automatically recognize most devices and peripherals like audio, video, TV and network cards, Firewire, USB devices and more!
dyne:bolic can be optionally installed on a hard drive, you just need to copy a directory: the easiest installation ever seen!
dyne:bolic Live CD is optimized to run on slower computers, turning them into a full media stations. The minimum requirements are a Pentium 1 or K5 PC with 64Mb RAM and IDE CD-ROM. dyne:bolic can also run on a modded XBOX game console - and if you have more than one, you can easily do clusters.

The simplest installation ever!
To install just copy the dyne/ folder from inside the CD to a HardDisk partition, no need to format, resize or delete anything.
Nest your Home
Keep all your home and settings inside a single file that you can move around: you won't need a laptop to have an operating system with you, just a CD and a USB memory stick.
Personal PC cluster
By running dyne:bolic you automatically join the CPU power of all the computers on your local network: let the old computer work together with the new, united they'll all work better.
Environment Friendly
This operating system is designed to run on a minimum of Pentium 1 MMX processor with at least 64MB of RAM (memory), not even a hard disk is needed. It can be used to stream online radio with a Pentium 2 400MHZ or an Xbox game console.

Dyne:bolic recognizes your hardware devices (sound, video, firewire, and USB) and offers a vast range of software for multimedia production, streaming, 3D modeling, photo, peer-to-peer filesharing, web browsing and publishing, word processing, email, encryption, and networking. It also includes games and a world navigator.
The graphical environment is XFree86 with WindowMaker which offers a fresh level of interaction which distincts dyne:bolic from other common graphical environments.
