Fame is a terrible, terrible thing, despite what you might think before attaining it: this is the kind of thing you hear from celebrities, be they actors, reality stars or singers, whenever asked how they’re coping with the boost in attention. On a related note, doing press tours for movies is almost as bad.

Some actors will say that these press tours are exhausting, others that they’re a nightmare because you always have to be on your guard about what you say, while others will admit to doing them only because they’re put in their contract.

It’s a nasty job, but someone’s got to do it, they say. Well, not Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock. He’s actually happy to be doing press tours, including day-long meetings with members of the press or separate magazine interviews, he tells Esquire magazine.

The Rock keeps it real: why are people complaining?

The Rock is now one of the most bankable action stars in Hollywood, which is an amazing feat for a guy who started in wrestling and worked his way up to A-list.

However, even though he’s swamped by offers and must have millions thrown at him by all the major studios, he didn’t lose his humility and firm grasp on reality. The Rock knows that he’s lucky to have succeeded and he doesn’t plan to let anyone down.

If his future success depend entirely on him, he plans to do all he can to have it.

“It’s funny, journalists will come in and say, ‘Thank you so much for sitting with me; I know your day’s been so long’,” he tells the publication. “I’ve got to be honest with you, we’re literally sitting here talking. It’s the easiest thing. Everything’s free, we’re at this hotel, you’ve got free food, we’re just talking about things.”

He doesn’t have to name the names of his fellow actors and actresses who complained about doing these horrendous press tours: by simply mentioning that it’s not really hard work if you’re sitting down for a chat, while enjoying all kinds of freebies, he’s just put them all to shame.

And he did it with typical grace, no less, wouldn’t you say?

By the way, The Rock is now promoting his new HBO series “Ballers.” The premiere didn’t exactly get off to stellar reviews.
