In an attempt to boost Vivaldi users' private search experience, Vivaldi Technologies and DuckDuckGo announced today the enablement of the privacy-focused search engine as default for browser's Private Windows.

As privacy is becoming a mainstream concern in the United States, Vivaldi has partnered with DuckDuckGo to offer their users a more secure Private Browsing experience when using the web browser's Private Windows (also known as Private Mode). With the latest stable Vivaldi release, DuckDuckGo has become the default search engine for all Private Windows, enabling users to keep their Web searches private.

"The current climate demands a thriving internet – not an internet with increased surveillance and security breaches. There has been a widespread concern amongst users about their data being shared. More than ever, there is an immediate need to protect our privacy. We are proud to join hands with DuckDuckGo and provide solutions in Vivaldi that respect users’ privacy," says Jon von Tetzchner, Vivaldi CEO.

Users' privacy is Vivaldi's highest priority

Vivaldi said that their highest priority at the moment is to respect the privacy of their users, and the integration of the DuckDuckGo privacy-aware search engine into their web browser's Private Windows will definitely boost your private search and browsing experience. Vivaldi's Private Windows don't track you, gather private information, and won't store visited sites, cookies and temporary files.

On the other hand, DuckDuckGo also promises not to collect or share any of your personal data when searching with their search engine. If you want to have a more private browsing experience when using the Chromium-based Vivaldi web browser, go ahead and update it to version 1.14 (1077.55), which is now live via OTA (Over-the-Air) updates or you download it for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows operating systems from our web portal.
