Gamers will have to upgrade their tactics

Video game developer BioWare and publisher Electronic Arts are announcing that they are adding the Darkspawn as an opposing faction in the multiplayer of Dragon Age: Inquisition, offering gamers a new set of enemies to deal with.

On the official site, the two companies explain that they want to offer a level of challenge that even veteran gamers will have some trouble eliminating.

Blair Brown, a producer, working on Dragon Age: Inquisition, says that BioWare has introduced some cool abilities to the Darkspawn, focusing on knockdowns and other skills that make them feel powerful and threatening.

They will bring everything from grunts to an Emissary to the field and can also command the allegiance of some dwarven units with their own set of unique skills.

Billy Buskell adds, "They certainly have a more physical presence: large wall-like shields and spiked armor. They can withstand more punishment and certainly dish it back just as hard. The darkspawn faction really is about counter-play."

BioWare suggests that the powers allowing players to quickly close with and move away from enemies are the best when it comes to dealing with the new enemies in the multiplayer of Dragon Age: Inquisition.

The studio says that the Legionnaire, the new Silent Sister and the Necromancer tend to be best equipped to deal with the Darkspawn enemies.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is getting more content in the coming months

Before adding a new faction for the multiplayer, BioWare introduced the new Silent Sister character and it seems that more are on the way.

The community that has gathered around Dragon Age: Inquisition is not as big as the one drawn in by the multiplayer of Mass Effect, but the development team is keeping them engaged with new missions and additions.

BioWare has also recently introduced a new single-player downloadable content pack called The Descent, which takes gamers to the Deep Roads and once again asks them to face the Darkspawn as they launch earthquakes against Thedas.

The ending of the narrative in Dragon Age: Inquisition suggests that the development team is already working on a sequel, but more story-driven content might be launched before one is announced.
