After releasing it early a few days ago, Warner Bros. and Rocksteady have officially launched the first major patch for Batman: Arkham Knight on the PC platform, solving a lot of important performance issues that have been plaguing the game ever since launch back in June.

Batman: Arkham Knight arrived across the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms worldwide at the end of June. While console users got to enjoy a pretty solid experience starring the Caped Crusader, PC users were stuck with a mess of a game that suffered from performance issues, crashes, and a lot of other problems.

The backlash was so serious that Warner Bros. decided to suspend the game’s sale and pledge that it was going to fix things as soon as possible, alongside Rocksteady Studios and the team that actually ported the game to the PC platform.

The first major patch is finally available for all owners of the game

After releasing a smaller patch closer to launch, the first major update is now available for download for PC users via the Steam service. This patch already appeared for some users earlier this week, but this time around, everyone who owns Batman: Arkham Knight can transfer it.

According to the official changelog, which you can see below thanks to the Steam forums, the main improvements include reduced framerate hitches as well as optimizations to the overall game so that it can better use the RAM and VRAM of a computer.

The game should also work much better across all graphics cards, although Rocksteady recommends players to install the latest drivers for both Nvidia and AMD devices.

Better settings, fewer bugs relating to lower resolution textures, and diminished hitches when running the game off an HDD are also included in this update.

The studio emphasizes that many other features are still coming to the game, including support for SLI and Crossfire graphics card configurations, as well as for new features that were added to the console versions, including Photo mode, the DLC, and the Season Pass content.

Last but not least, the team is still trying to solve a Windows 7 memory issue on computers with 8GB of RAM and some Nvidia GPUs, as well as a Windows 10 problem on computers with AMD GPUs.
