The first update for Batman: Arkham Knight on the PC platform is now available for download. The patch weighs in at around 67.6MB according to the Steam service and brings forth a suite of essential fixes for major performance issues.

Batman: Arkham Knight launched at the beginning of the week across the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms. The game impressed fans on the two consoles, but PC users were left with a borderline unplayable experience that had major issues relating to performance and gameplay.

Since then, Batman: Arkham Knight publisher Warner Bros. suspended the game’s sale on the PC platform and developer Rocksteady pledged to work hard in order to resolve all the problems and turn Arkham Knight into an enjoyable experience for computer users.

The first patch for Arkham Knight on PC is live

Now, Batman: Arkham Knight has just seen the first patch launch for the PC platform via the Steam service. The update weighs in at 67.6MB and will be automatically downloaded through the Steam service the next time you start up the client.

According to the official statement on the Steam forums, this initial patch fixes a crash that happens when users exit the game, as well as a bug that disabled rain effects and ambient occlusion.

Verifying the game’s cache will no longer cause Steam to re-download the whole 30+GB of files. What’s more, turning off motion blur by modifying the .ini files will no longer cause the game to crash.

Many other improvements are also coming to PC users

While the full changelog for the current first patch for Batman: Arkham Knight is available below, Rocksteady also highlighted the many other problems it currently plans to solve as soon as possible.

These include support for framerates above 30fps in the graphics settings menu, better performance and fewer framerate hitches, and many other things.
