After the release of iOS 9.0.2, Apple decided that downgrading to older iOS versions is not needed anymore

If you have experienced any of the issues plaguing the iOS 9.0 release, you must have noticed that after upgrading to iOS 9.0.1 and yesterday to iOS 9.0.2, the vast majority of them are now fixed.

This is the reason why, after releasing two bug fix iOS releases meant to solve issues left unmended in iOS 9.0 in a very short period of time, Apple has decided to stop signing iOS 9.0 and 8.4.1, as discovered by 9to5mac.

As a result, users that still find bugs in the current iOS 9.0.2 release will have to wait for future iOS iterations that include a fix for their problem.

Another way to try fixing a problematic iOS installation on your device would be to enroll in Apple's Beta Software Program and install the latest iOS 9.1 Beta release in the hope that the issues you face are fixed in the current public pre-release version of iOS.

By closing the signing window for iOS 9.0 and 8.4.1, Apple makes sure that its iOS users are using the most stable releases

The fact that Apple has stopped signing iOS versions released before iOS 9.0.2 comes as no surprise considering that this always happens once the Cupertino guys decide that they fixed the most severe issues in the first stable release for a major iOS release.

As we reported yesterday, iOS 9.0.2 features multiple bug fixes for issues affecting iMessage, iCloud Backup and a quite critical bug that would not allow users to enable cellular data for apps installed after updating to iOS 9.0 or iOS 9.0.1.

If you haven't yet updated to iOS 9.0.2 and you've experienced any of the issues fixed in the latest iOS release, you should update as soon as possible by opening the Settings app, going to General > Software Update on your device and tapping on the "Download and Install" button.

If updating over the air is not possible because you don't have a good enough wireless or cellular connection, download the iOS 9.0.2 IPSW file from our Mac area for your iOS device, connect the device to your Mac, OPTION + Click on the Restore button in iTunes and select the downloaded IPSW file in the dialog that opens.

Once the restore process starts, let it finish, and after the install process has ended, you just have to set up your iOS device using the setup screen displayed on all new devices.
