No candidate builds currently tested by Microsoft

Windows 10 Mobile will make its first public appearance next week, when Microsoft takes the wraps off Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, but as far as the operating system itself is concerned, Redmond is having a hard time delivering new builds to users.

Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, has said in a tweet that there are “no candidate builds in our outermost internal ring,” so in case you're hoping to get a new Windows 10 Mobile build for your phone “it would be later this week at earliest.”

In other words, there are some very slight chances to get a new build on Thursday (Microsoft doesn't usually provide insiders with new releases on Fridays and weekends), but don't put high hopes on this because the company needs a day or two for internal slow ring testing. And because there's no build candidate in the OSG slow ring, a release is more likely to take place next week.

Slow release cadence for Windows 10 Mobile

Gabe Aul's already famous “no builds today” statement is becoming more frustrating as we get closer to the official debut of Windows 10 Mobile, but also when taking into account that the company promised to deliver new builds at a faster pace after the debut of the PC version.

Since July 29, the date when Windows 10 for PC went live, Microsoft has rolled out only two different new builds, both for fast ring users - 10512 on August 12 and 10536 on September 14.

Development clearly takes more than anyone expected, and now users are afraid that Microsoft might miss the November release deadline or ship the operating system with bugs that could basically ruin their experience with Windows 10 Mobile.

Hopefully, things will improve significantly in the upcoming builds, so fingers crossed to get a new version for testing early next week.
