Video game developer Larian Studios is announcing that it is aiming to create a sequel for the much-appreciated Divinity: Original Sin and that it is aiming to launch a new Kickstarter campaign for the title on August 26.

Until then, the company is allowing all those interested to access the official site in order to choose the kinds of rewards they would like to see offered when the actual crowdfunding effort is launched, which is something that might increase interest in the game.

A prototype of Divinity: Original Sin II will be first playable during the coming PAX Prime event, which means that Larian has already done a lot of work on the title and has something to show once the Kickstarter goes live.

The studio has not said whether it plans to once again work with Focus Home Interactive on the publishing process for the new game and more details about it will probably be offered on August 26.

During the past few months, Kickstarter funding campaigns for video games seem to be on a downward slope and developers need to find new ways to mobilize their fans in order to make sure they get the amount of money needed to actually create the video game.

Divinity: Original Sin II will have to expand on an already solid original

The first title in the series offers classic role-playing action set in an original fantasy world with options for both single and cooperative play for the campaign.

Larian sought to create a title that emphasizes player choice and offers new and engaging ways to interact with the world and the various challenges.

The game also comes with a lot of support for modding and a solid community has developed around it, and there are plans to deliver it to home consoles.

Original Sin was praised by both players and reviewers and has managed to move more than half a million copies to players while also getting Game of the Year awards.

The Kickstarter effort for the original title has managed to gather more than 1 million dollars (900,000 Euro) and it will be interesting to see how much Larian will seek to get from gamers in order to create Divinity: Original Sin II.
