Divinity: Original Sin, the pretty popular role-playing experience released by Larian Studios last year, is getting a full-fledged sequel, in the form of the simply titled Divinity: Original Sin 2. The project is now on Kickstarter, where Larian is asking for a goal of $500,000 (around €439,000). A video, some screenshots, and plenty of details are available.

Divinity: Original Sin burst onto the scene last year and impressed through its story, its old-school mechanics, not to mention the many different choices that can be made by players, which have an effect on the plot and the missions.

The title managed to impress plenty of PC users, and now it seems that Larian Studios wants to deliver a proper sequel, in the form of Divinity: Original Sin 2.

The sequel is now on Kickstarter and development is already going well

The new title is now present on Kickstarter, the popular crowdfunding service that's already helped many titles come to fruition.

Larian emphasizes that the game is already well in development, thanks to the profit generated by Original Sin 1, but more resources are needed in order to deliver all-new features and many other enhancements.

The studio is asking $500,000 (€439,000), and at least for now, there are no stretch goals. Fans can pledge different amounts of money, and rewards include not only digital or retail copies but also access to alpha and beta stages, behind-the-scenes videos, collector's editions, special clothing and items, and much more.

Many improvements and new mechanics are included

Besides sharing some gameplay footage from an actual prototype, as you can see in the video below, the Kickstarter also details some of the improved things that are present in Divinity: Original Sin 2. These range from a bigger emphasis on a character's origins in terms of story and gameplay to competitive multiplayer in which people will compete to further their own interests, no matter what the other members of the party want.

There's a new dialog system that offers more options to players, which are better suited to their characters. A new crafting system promises more rewards to those who use it while a Skill Crafting mechanic lets players combine their skills and spells to create more powerful hybrids.

Larian Studios hopes to release Divinity: Original Sin 2 in December of 2016 to backers on Kickstarter for the PC platform. Expect to hear and see much more of the RPG in the following month, as its crowdfunding campaign continues.
