64-bit Ubuntu 16.10 or SteamOS 2.0 are the recommended OSes

After teasing users with the upcoming availability of the DiRT Rally racing game for Linux-based operating systems on March 2, 2017, the UK-based game publisher Feral Interactive is now announcing the official system requirements.

DiRT Rally will be ported to Linux and SteamOS by Feral Interactive, which also brought us the Tomb Raider (2013), Mad Max, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided games. But until its official launch on March 2, you'll have some time to buy some new components for your PC if you want to fully enjoy the game.

The minimum requirements for playing DiRT Rally on your Linux gaming rig are an Intel Core i3-4130T or AMD FX6300 processor, 8GB RAM, either Nvidia 650ti or AMD Radeon R9 270 graphics card with the latest Nvidia 370.28 proprietary graphics driver (for Nvidia GPUs) and Mesa 13.0.2 3D Graphics Library (for AMD GPUs) installed.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 is recommended for maximum gameplay experience

If you're serious about your gaming experience, Feral Interactive recommends playing DiRT Rally on Linux with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 graphics card with 4GB RAM or better and an Intel Core i7-4770 processor. The recommended operating systems are, as expected, Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) or SteamOS 2.0.110.

Please note that the game only supports 64-bit platforms. Of course, if you're using a GNU/Linux distribution that offers you access to the latest Mesa 13.x or 17.x graphics stacks for AMD Radeon cards, or Nvidia proprietary video drivers for Nvidia GPUs, you'll also be able to play DiRT Rally, but Feral Interactive won't provide support for them.

For more details, a trailer, and other information, we recommend checking out the mini site put together by Feral Interactive for their upcoming DiRT Rally port for Linux and SteamOS. It also looks like they are planning to port DiRT Rally on Mac platforms, but no details on that are available at the moment of writing.
