Leaked documents from Microsoft confirm performance increase

A brand new leak has arrived online, supposedly from Microsoft's documentation about DirectX 12 on the Xbox One. The main takeaway is an estimation of the performance increase offered by the new technology. Apparently, Microsoft believes that DirectX 12 boosts the CPU performance by 50% and the GPU performance by 20%.

The Xbox One launched in most places back in November of 2013, and as more and more titles arrived on both the Microsoft console and its rival, Sony's PS4, it became clear that the Xbox One's hardware wasn't exactly capable of rendering games at the same level of quality as Sony's device.

The poorer performance figures were pinned on an array of things, such as the 32MB of esRAM memory, but things should get better once the Windows 10 operating system is released for the Xbox One this November.

While a performance increase is expected, thanks to the all-new DirectX 12 API in Windows 10 for the Xbox One, no exact figures are known, at least until Microsoft actually releases the operating system.

Until then, it seems that the corporation has already offered some fresh documentation to developers working on Xbox One games right now. One such file was obtained by SoloXboxOne and it includes a portion that refers directly to the DirectX 12 performance increase.

Microsoft apparently confirms that DirectX 12's new Direct3D graphics API guarantees an increase in performance for the GPU of about 20%. The overall technology also brings an even bigger improvement to the CPU performance figures, as developers can expect a 50% increase in the output of the main processor.

The documents also confirm a better API for the esRAM so that developers can achieve 1080p as a standard resolution "more frequently."

It's unlikely that Microsoft will confirm the leak or the performance figures just yet, but it's possible that developers will talk about them in the future.
