The digiKam Team was happy to inform its dedicated users that the digiKam Software Collection 4.10.0 is now available for download for the KDE 4 desktop environment, supporting GNU/Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems.

digiKam Software Collection 4.10.0 arrived on May 12 and included numerous bug fixes reported by users since the previous version of the program, digiKam 4.9.0, which was announced back in April 2015.

"The digiKam Team is proud to announce the release of digiKam Software Collection 4.10.0. This release includes a new sets of bugs fixes from Maik Qualmann who maintain KDE4 version while KF5 port is under progress," was stated in the release announcement.

In addition to the bug fixes, digiKam Software Collection 4.10.0 is here to introduce new interoperability patches created by Alan Pater and designed to offer support for MediaPro and AcdSee metadata.

digiKam 5.0 is still being ported to KDE Frameworks 5

Over fifteen issues had been resolved in the 4.10.0 release of the digiKam Software Collection application, including a memory leak that occurred when color autocorrection used all the processor's cores. If you are curious to see what bugs have been resolved, do not hesitate to visit the KDE Bugs tracking system.

Softpedia was the first to report last month that the next major release of digiKam, version 5.0, will arrive in July 2015 and will the first to be ported to the next-generation KDE Frameworks 5 libraries for the KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment.

As such, with this announcement for digiKam Software Collection 4.10.0, we can report that the team of innovative people behind the well-known digiKam image viewer, editor and organizer software for KDE desktops are hard at work these days porting the application to KDE Frameworks 5.
