LG’s G6 flagship smartphone was announced during the year’s biggest tech event, the Mobile World Congress, and the device is LG’s latest attempt to revamp the G series and attract some of the customers that it lost with the previous G5.

According to a new report by TechnoBuffalo, LG is planning to launch a new version of the LG G6, one that it’s currently referred to as the LG G6 Mini and would feature a smaller display size of 5.4 inches, compared to the 5.7-inch screen on the LG G6. The screen-to-body ratio on the new phone could be under 80%.

The report also mentions that the LG G6 Mini will have an 18:9 aspect ratio, just like on the G6 smartphone that LG recently released in Europe and other regions from across the world. Sadly, other specs of the upcoming smartphone are currently unknown, so we’ll just have to wait and see what LG has prepared for the Mini version of its flagship.

LG G6 Mini won’t be the final retail name

There’s the possibility that LG might provide lower specs inside the G6 mini, compared to the G6, so that the new phone would be sold for a lower price than the flagship. The LG G6 Mini won’t be the final retail price of the new smartphone, while LG could launch the smartphone in select markets, possibly not in the US.

The G6 comes with a 3,300mAh battery, while the G6 Mini might draw power from a battery with a lower capacity, considering the phone’s smaller size. The G6 comes with 4GB of RAM and runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 platform, while internal storage reaches 32 or 64GB depending on the region.

The phone has a dual-camera setup with 13MP sensors, dual-LED flash on the back and a 5MP selfie snapper in the front. The smartphone features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
