Block Windows 7 from collecting your personal info

A bunch of updates that Microsoft has recently released for Windows 7 and 8.1 have caused a new wave of criticism aimed at the Redmond-based tech giant, as information posted in the official KB pages has hinted that Redmond might actually use these updates to collect data from users' computers, in a similar way it does on Windows 10.

Unsurprisingly, users' frustration has gone so high that many have decided to remove these updates from their computers completely, in an attempt to protect their privacy and, more importantly, to block Microsoft from collecting their data.

Fortunately, there's a better option right now that makes it easier to prevent any service bundled into Windows 7 and 8.1 from gathering data from the PC.

Destroy Windows 10 Spying 1.5 Build 328

If you're a Windows 10 user, you’ve probably heard of the application called Destroy Windows 10 Spying, which does exactly what its name suggests: it disables all data collection services in the new operating system and makes sure users are entirely protected after the upgrade.

And thanks to a new update that was released this morning, the very same app can be used to disable tracking services in Windows 7 and 8.1 that were implemented with the latest updates.

According to the official change log of this new release, Destroy Windows 10 Spying 1.5 Build 328 includes not only bug fixes and other performance optimizations but also options to remove what the developing team calls “spy updates in Windows 7, 8, and 8.1.”

New IPs belonging to Microsoft, which were used for sending information, have also been added, so you can place them on the blocked list, thus making sure that Redmond indeed doesn't get any of your details if you don't want to let it do so.

Overall, this is clearly an effective solution to protect your privacy, but keep in mind that Microsoft doesn't recommend installing this kind of apps. If you wish to ignore this warning, you can always download Destroy Windows 10 Spying and see what it's up to.
