The development team at Bungie and publisher Activision might have another two weeks to work on the new The Taken King expansion for Destiny, but the two companies are already offering a full launch trailer for it, which features some interesting moments that gamers will probably never be able to experience.

The footage shows the dreadnought that Oryx is using to invade the solar system moving around Saturn and engaging other fleets, although the developers have said nothing about adding any space battles to the shooter.

There are also bits and pieces from the cutscenes that will drive the story of The Taken King for fans to sample, showing off some of the new enemies and the tension that characters will exist under as they face the powerful new threat.

The choice of music for the trailer is inspired, with Black Dog from Led Zeppelin perfectly underlining the difficulties that gamers will have to deal with in Destiny.

The Taken King is centered around Oryx and his quest to avenge the killing of his son Crota, but the development team has already said that the big raid centered on him will be offered some time after the expansion first arrives.

Destiny is getting ready for its second year of life

Bungie has always said that it has long-term plans for the social shooter and the big coming expansion and the update linked to it will introduce some major changes, most of them based on the feedback offered by the community.

The development team is aiming to offer more variety for both strikes and other end-game activities, and it also wants Guardians to get more options when it comes to the equipment that they use.

There are also tweaks to progression, the core shooter mechanics and the way various currencies and sellers will work.

The Taken King for Destiny will be live on September 15 on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and older home consoles.

One week before that date, gamers will get access for free to update 2.0, which is designed to offer a major rebalancing of the shooter while also adding some new features for the entire community.

Bungie says that in order to be prepared, gamers should free up around 18 GB of free space on their devices for the download and installation.
