The development team at Bungie is preparing for a second big live streaming event that will give gamers an extended look at the coming The Taken King expansion for Destiny, but the studio has so much to show fans that it has also been delivering reveals about gear on other social media channels.

On the official Instagram account, gamers can get a sneak peek at some of the Exotic items they will be able to get from special vendor Xur, with a focus on the way each of the pieces will expand the possibilities to develop a character.

Bungie is showing gamers a new shotgun called The Chaperone, a fusion rifle named Telesto, a Titan helmet with the exotic name of Empyrean Bellicose, a chest piece called Alchemist’s Raiment, and the Ahamkara Graps gauntlets.

More items might be revealed in the coming hours and days, so dedicated fans should keep an eye on the account.

A wider range of good gear will be offered for all characters in The Taken King as Bungie is also rebalancing progression to focus more on experience, with equipment coming as an added layer that will boost the characters' combat capabilities.

Destiny is also getting a big 2.0 update before the expansion

The changes that are being made to the core gameplay of the social shooter will be introduced via a big patch, which Bungie says will also include a big balance pass for all the weaponry, designed to tweak base stats and other aspects.

A full list of notes for update 2.0 will be offered closer to the moment when it launches, probably a few days before The Taken King.

The expansion will be centered on Oryx, a powerful new boss that is coming back to the solar system to fight those who have killed Crota, his son.

His dreadnought will serve as the new area that Guardians can explore, designed to be different from the planets that have so far been featured in Destiny, and it comes complete with an array of challenging enemies.

The Taken King will be live for Destiny on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and older home consoles on September 15.
