Activision has not yet reacted to the issue

Most of the Destiny community might be focused on the coming The Taken King expansion, but in the meantime, the Red Bull promotion for the social shooter has been targeted by scammers and players who were over-eager to get access to the rewards on offer.

Apparently, users have managed to figure out the way codes for the entire process are generated or have even got access to the system that the companies use and have flooded the official site with requests.

This briefly brought the entire Red Bull promotion for Destiny down for a while and resulted in problems for many of those who actually got cans of the drink and found that their own codes were already used, which left them suitably disappointed.

Since then, the two companies seem to have remedied the problem, but it is unclear whether they have also tweaked the way codes are generated to make sure that there are no further problems in the future.

A lot of Destiny fans were annoyed with the entire Red Bull promotion when it was first announced because it gave gamers who were ready to pay for real-world items a chance to pick up some exclusive gear but also to get a boost when it comes to Guardian experience.

Activision and Red Bull will probably have to issue an apology and find a way to compensate those who have not been able to use their codes.

The Taken King is coming on September 15

Bungie clearly does not need the distraction associated with the Red Bull promotion because it has to use all its resources to create the coming expansion.

Gamers who pick up The Taken King will be able to battle Oryx, a new powerful boss and the father of Crota, in a new major end-game raid.

A new location, the dreadnought, is being introduced for gamers to explore, and there are plenty of new gear and weapons for players to pick up and use.

Bungie is also planning to introduce a number of tweaks to the Crucible experience and to other in-game activities.

The Taken King will be offered on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and older consoles, and when it arrives, gamers will also get access to all the content that was initially offered on Sony devices in 2014.
