Sequels or expansions won't force them to start again

Bungie once again confirms that it won't force Destiny players to create new characters in the next expansions or sequels, as the plan is to allow them to keep their Guardians throughout the next 10 years, during the Destiny multiplayer experience.

After many years of hype and anticipation, Bungie and Activision released Destiny to the world last year and began the 10-year journey promised to fans ahead of its actual debut.

Since then, two big expansions have launched for the game, and the biggest one yet, The Taken King, is set to roll out on September 15, marking the one-year anniversary of the experience and bringing all sorts of new things.

Destiny's future won't force players to start from scratch

While Bungie has already confirmed that it's going to continue releasing new expansions and even full-fledged sequels for Destiny, the studio now states that it won't force players to start from scratch in any of them.

The Guardians created in Destiny will be transported throughout the 10-year journey, according to Bungie's Engineering Lead Luke Timmins, who tells GamesRadar that players shouldn't worry about the fate of their Guardians.

"We certainly take it seriously that Destiny is a ten-year thing," he explains. "It’s a long-term thing and with these adventures that we’re adding my contract to you - and any player - is that your Guardian will always be there. We’re going to keep adding new stuff for you to do and I’d hope you’ll look at The Taken King and be like, 'I’m looking forward to logging on again and hooking friends online.'"

Timmins, however, declines to comment on whether or not new classes and other such content are going to appear for Destiny in the future, which might require players to begin an all-new Guardian to experience.

Considering Bungie is still dedicated to the current iteration of Destiny, don't expect it to talk about sequel plans anytime soon.
