The development team at Bungie is announcing that it will deliver a special preview event linked to the Crucible experience to all those who currently own Destiny, allowing them to get a look at the changes that the coming The Taken King expansion is making to the experience.

After update 2.0 for the social shooter is delivered on September 8, gamers will see that the Crucible is offering new battle modes and new maps which they can try out, although the new subclasses for Guardians will not be implemented yet.

Both Rift and Mayhem are playable, and gamers will have until September 14 to test them out with the entire community.

Bungie adds in the Weekly Update that "Once Oryx arrives in our Solar System, the new Crucible content will become the sole property of those Guardians who pick up and continue playing The Taken King. This is your chance to try before you buy - or download."

It's nice to see the company delivering a preview for all Destiny players, giving them a clear taste of what the expansion can offer, but many fans will object to the segmentation between those who pick up The Taken King and those who do not.

The Crucible will not be the star of the coming content

Most gamers are at the moment focused on the new Strikes that The Taken King will include, each of them more varied than what the game has offered until now, and on the Court of Oryx experience, which allows groups to summon bosses to fight against.

These will be offered on September 15 on all platforms, with some exclusive content for those playing on the PlayStation devices.

Gamers will have to wait three days before Bungie also delivers the new massive King's Fall raid, which features Oryx as the final boss and is designed to be hard to complete even for those who moved quickly through Crota's End and Vault of Glass.

In less than one week, Destiny players will get access to the 2.0 update, which will tweak some of the core mechanics and will focus on balancing the weapons, making sure that a wider number of them are attractive to use.

A full list of patch notes is expected to arrive early next week.
