The Damage Referee system has also been expanded

Video game developer Bungie is announcing that it is introducing a new refinement of the matchmaking system for Destiny effective immediately to address some of the concerns that the player base has been expressing in 2016 since some other tweaks were implemented.

On the official forums, the studio explains that the changes are now live in Control and that at the moment the focus is shifting a little towards the quality of the connection of all those players involved in a match.

Bungie states, "Skill ratings will be less a factor in finding you a match. Lag will be even further diminished. Enjoying a game with your friends who are more/less skilled than you are will be easier, but your opponents will be more random, so you will stand a better chance of getting your ass kicked - or vice versa."

The company is also saying that the more casual players will continue to be separated from those who have solid results in games, but the quality of the connection is once again a very important element in matchmaking because that's what the player community has been asking for.

The Damage Referee system that Bungie has previously only used in Control is now also live in Clash, Rumble, and Freelance 3v3 to offer yet another way to make sure that poor connections do not affect the wider Destiny community.

Bungie says that it wants to hear how gamers react to the tweaks and that if everything goes well, it might deploy it to other playlists in the near future.

Destiny is getting a big content drop before the end of spring

Many fans of the social shooter were dissatisfied with the amount of new experiences featured in the Crimson Days event that marked Valentine's Day and believe that Bungie needs to deliver more interesting content to keep them engaged.

The studio has revealed that it has plans to introduce new missions and challenges before the end of spring, with the total amount of activities set to rival that featured in The Taken King expansion for Destiny.

The company is not willing to say whether it is playing to add more strikes or even a new raid or if it will focus on more modes and on delivering extra emotes, shaders and emblems for Guardians to use.

Until the new content drop for Destiny is revealed, the team has the time required to work on making sure that the matchmaking system satisfies as many members of the player community as possible.

A bigger expansion for the shooter, which will come with an attached price tag, will be introduced later in the year, according to information from publisher Activision and a full expansion is planned to arrive on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 in 2017.

Destiny has been criticized by its customers recently, and the company has gone so far as to send out surveys, asking its most ardent fans to explain what it takes to keep them engaged in the long term.
