It's unclear for how long the game will be down

Video game developer Bungie is announcing that it will once again take Destiny down for maintenance on Wednesday, June 24, starting at 10 AM Pacific Daylight Time, although the company is not ready to say for how long the game will be offline.

The announcement comes from the official Twitter account of the title, and the studio delivers no reason for the downtime and does not state whether the period is required to deliver an update for the social shooter.

Destiny was down for maintenance for a six-hour period on Monday this week, and the development team explained that it was only upgrading the infrastructure in order to prepare the title for other changes in the future.

After the title was brought back up, it was affected by some Beaver issues that were quickly solved.

The fact that the length of the maintenance period is not mentioned is unusual for Bungie and might be a sign that the studio is reacting to a problem rather than implementing a long scheduled downtime.

Destiny is getting ready for The Taken King

It might be more than some months until the new expansion for the social shooter is launched, but the title already needs to prepare for the big changes that are coming.

The Taken King is designed to introduce a major new location for players to explore, with the new Oryx-controlled dreadnought designed to encourage players to explore and approach fights in new ways.

There are also new modes coming to the Crucible, with details about them set to be offered soon.

All the Guardians included in Destiny are also getting new subclasses, designed to offer new unique powers.

Finally, the expansion will also introduce some weapons and items that can be used to empower Guardians, although it is unclear whether there are plans to also increase the level cap.

The Taken King will arrive on all platforms on September 15, and gamers who are playing on the PlayStation platforms will get access to a new strike and more weapons.

Bungie has recently promised that it will offer more details about the controversy linked to the Limited Edition that's being associated with the expansion.
