14 DAY TRIAL // Dell has just unveiled the 2017 version of its XPS 15 laptop coming with Windows 10 and 7th generation Intel Core (Kay Lake) processors.
Based on the same borderless design that makes the XPS 15 one of the prettiest laptops on the market, the refreshed lineup is already up for purchase in the United States, with prices starting at $999 for the entry-level configuration. In terms of looks, the new model is entirely similar to its predecessor, but hardware upgrades are worth a look at.
2017 XPS 15 specifications
As far as the technical specifications are concerned, there are three different configurations available, namely i3, i5, and i7 with a speed of up to 3.8 GHz.
There are also two display versions, just like on the previous generation, including the 15.6-inch full HD version with resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and the 4K model with 3840x2160 pixel resolution. Both are InfinityEdge screens, so they have very small bezels, but touch is available optionally.
In terms of memory options, you can choose between 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB DDR4 RAM, while the graphics cards are an Intel HD Graphics 630 and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with 4GB GDDR5.
Storage options include a 500GB HDD + 32GB flash version or 1TB HDD storage with 32GB Flash as well as 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB SSD storage.
Other than that, you get the typical features, such as a full-size backlit keyboard with 1.3mm travel, Gorilla Glass protection for the display, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, stereo speakers, 720p webcam, dual microphones, 2 USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, headphone jack, an SD card reader, Thunderbolt, and Kensington.
You can also choose between two different battery options, namely 56 Whr for the non-touch version, and 97 Whr for the touch display, with a final weight of 1.8 kg and 2 kg, respectively.
It goes without saying that it runs the full version of Windows 10, and HP is also offering some of its own solutions pre-installed, but you can obviously remove everything if you don’t need them.
