At the end of February, the upcoming deepin 15.4 Linux distribution entered Beta stages of development, and now, one month later, the team published the Release Candidate version.

deepin 15.4 Release Candidate is an important milestone in the development cycle of the Linux-based operating system, and it looks like many of the things users suggested from the Beta release have been implemented, along with lots of bugs fixes for the desktop, Control Center, launcher, dock, window manager, and other components.

"deepin is a Linux distribution devoted to providing beautiful, easy to use, safe and reliable system for global users. After public test of deepin 15.4 Beta, we have received a lot of suggestions and feedback, we adopted part of them and fixed a lot of problems," reads today's announcement.

Highlights of deepin 15.4 Release Candidate

Among the changes included in the Release Candidate (RC) build of the upcoming deepin 15.4 operating system, we can mention an improved Control Center that now features custom weather location, controls for playing music, custom settings for multi-screen configurations, and a new switch to remember the status of NumLock.

The quick bar styles on Control Center's homepage have been optimized, some new plugin functions were implemented, and various other bugs fixed. Pre-installed, users will find a collection of new wallpapers, and deepin 15.4 RC also optimizes the keyboard layout function, the details of system UI, and the desktop hot corners.

The Launcher received some attention as well in this Release Candidate of deepin 15.4, and among the things that have been optimized, we can mention the UI and interaction, displaying of app icons, styles on selection, as well as the fonts, which will now be adjusted automatically by system fonts.

deepin 15.4 RC ships pre-installed with the Foxit Reader PDF viewer, optimizes the display of app icons in the Dock, adds support for setting a different wallpaper for each of the default workspaces, along with a new setting to select a random wallpaper for any of the newly added workspaces.

Lots of bugs have been squashed, and the interaction and UI details of the window manager were improved in deepin 15.4 Release Candidate, which comes with a Wubi installer that lets Windows users install the operating system from within a Windows 7 or later OS, though you'll need to disable the fast startup functionality.
