Annoyed by the fact that your device has too much bloatware?

What most Android devices these days have in common is that they ship out to customers with bloatware on board. These pre-installed applications can be loaded either by the carrier that is selling the product or by the device manufacturer, or both.

However, some device manufacturers do offer users the option of removing these applications from the device, but not all do so. In South Korea, for instance, the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning has taken a really pro-active stance towards helping mobile users to remove the unwanted software on board the mobile devices they spend good money on.

But what if you don’t live in South Korea? Well, the good news is that the devs at the xda-developers forums have come up with a Debloater program (version 3.90) which promises to remove all carrier bloat without requiring you to root the device.

Want to keep your smartphone clean?

Just bear in mind that the Debloater is not an official solution offered by Google, a particular manufacturer or carrier. It’s just a software that was developed by a dev who got tired of bloatware just like you. So if you choose to use this product, you should be warned that you agree to do this at your own risk.

According to the developer, the Debloater has been created to “block or disable apps on devices through the command line and or shell.” As we specified above, there’s no rooting involved, but you’ll need to comply with a few requirements like granting it access to Windows operating system, having manufacturer USB drivers installed, Android KitKat or above installed on the mobile device, and USB debugging turned on.

The dev shared the complete list of what the program is supposed to do, which includes exporting/importing your blocked or unbloked listing to a file or filtering the displayed packages for quicker decision making.

In short, you’ll be able to disable or block third-party apps that you don’t consider necessary on your device. The Debloater can read everything directly from the device. So if you want a clean device, you could consider heading to the xda-developers forum and downloading the Debloater.
