As we reported the other day, the Debian Project unveiled the first point release of the Debian GNU/Linux 9 "Stretch" operating system, but no installation or live ISOs were made available to download.

That changes today, July 23, 2017, as the Debian CD team lead by Steve McIntyre has prepared the new installation images of Debian GNU/Linux 9.1 "Stretch" for 64-bit (amd64), 32-bit (i386), PowerPC 64-bit Little Endian (ppc64el), ARM64 (AArch64), ARMhf, Armel, MIPS, MIPS 64-bit Little Endian (mips64el), MIPSEL, and IBM System z (s390x) hardware architectures.

Multi-arch images supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit (i386 and amd64) PCs are also available for download, along with a set of twelve source ISO images. On the other hand, the Debian GNU/Linux 9.1 "Stretch" Live ISOs come in the usual flavors with the GNOME, KDE, Xfce, LXDE, MATE, and Cinnamon desktop environments, supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures.

Debian GNU/Linux 8.9 "Jessie" Live ISOs also available to download

The Debian Project also announced the availability of ninth point release of the Debian GNU/Linux 8 "Jessie" series, along with the release of Debian GNU/Linux 9.1 "Stretch." Therefore, Debian GNU/Linux 8.9 "Jessie" is now also available to download as GNOME, KDE, Xfce, LXDE, MATE, Cinnamon, and Openbox Live ISO images that work on both 64-bit and 32-bit computers.

Without any further ado, you can download the Debian GNU/Linux 9.1 GNOME Live, Debian GNU/Linux 9.1 KDE Live, Debian GNU/Linux 9.1 Xfce Live, Debian GNU/Linux 9.1 LXDE Live, Debian GNU/Linux 9.1 MATE Live, Debian GNU/Linux 9.1 Cinnamon Live, and Debian GNU/Linux 9.1 installation ISOs, which you can use to reinstall your Debian Stretch installation or deploy the OS on new machines.

These new ISO images will save you a few hundreds of MB of updates that you would normally have to download after installing the operating system using the first Debian Stretch installation mediums. However, existing users don't have to download these ISOs, just make sure they have the latest updates installed. We remind you that Debian GNU/Linux 9.1 "Stretch" contains 26 security updates and 54 miscellaneous bug fixes.
