14 DAY TRIAL // Univention GmbH's Maren Abatielos is today informing us about the release and immediate availability for download of the first point release to the Debian-based Univention Corporate Server 4.2 server-oriented operating system.
Being the first to be rebased on the Debian GNU/Linux 8 "Jessie" operating system series, Univention Corporate Server 4.2 launched in early April this year with increased binary compatibility with Debian, systemd as default init system for new installations, MBD3 support for the Univention Directory listener, and a new configurable web portal.
A much-improved UCS management system also landed in USC 4.2, along with revised usability and user guidance of the password self-service. Under the hood, the Univention Corporate Server 4.2 stable series is powered by the long-term supported Linux 4.9 kernel and ships with Docker 1.12, Samba 4.6.4, and QEMU/KVM 2.8.
What's new in Univention Corporate Server 4.2-1
Now Univention Corporate Server 4.2-1 is here as the first minor point release to add the ability for users to set the forwarding of e-mails per mail user in the management system, as well as to improve the way the changing of the login password is done if you're using a Microsoft Active Directory domain.
"Changing the password to log on to the UCS management system has been improved. This allows users from a Microsoft Active Directory domain to change their expired password. In addition, more information is displayed if the password change fails," explains Nico Gulden in the release announcement.
Additionally, the update adds a hint for root logins as domain modules are not available for the root user, improves the App Center docker integration to react better to errors and allow the forward of the proxy configuration of the UCS system to the Docker app.
Other than that, it looks like Univention Corporate Server 4.2-1 improves capabilities of the IPv6 configuration of various services, such as in the management system, the proxy server configuration, or for Nagios.
