Samba, Apache, OpenSSL and GNU C Library were updated

Maren Abatielos of Univention GmbH informs us today, May 10, 2016, about the release of the second maintenance build of Univention Corporate Server (UCS) 4.1.

Univention Corporate Server 4.1-2 is here to update some of the operating system's core components to their latest versions available at the moment of the writing this article, patching multiple security issues and addressing bugs reported since Univention Corporate Server 4.1-1.

"We are pleased to announce the availability of UCS 4.1-2 for download, the second point release of Univention Corporate Server (UCS) 4.1. It includes all errata updates issued for UCS 4.1-1 and provides various improvements and bugfixes," reads today's announcement.

What's new in Univention Corporate Server 4.1-2

Release highlights of Univention Corporate Server 4.1-2 include the latest Apache, OpenSSL and GNU C Library (Glibc) packages, improvements to the Active Directory Connector, which now uses the Active Directory (AD) standard interfaces to sync the password hashes, thus deprecating the Windows password synchronization service.

The Samba 4.3.7 update is also available in today's release of the Debian-based Univention Corporate Server operating system, improving counting of login attempts. Moreover, the Univention Management Console (UMC) should work a lot better when accessed from mobile devices, such as smartphones or tablets.

Lastly, Univention Corporate Server 4.1-2 adds significant improvements to the module used for managing the Domain Name System (DNS) setting in the serer-oriented operating system, along with improvements to the presentation of apps in Univention App Center (UAC), in particular, the display of their license terms.
