14 DAY TRIAL // The developers behind the Netrunner open-source, Linux-based operating system are announcing the release and immediate availability for download of the Netrunner 17.06 "Daedalus" edition.
Netrunner 17.06 "Daedalus" is the latest Live ISO snapshot of the Netrunner Linux distribution, based on the latest Debian Testing repositories and including up-to-date components like the KDE Plasma 5.10 desktop environment, KDE Applications 17.04 software suite, as well as KDE Frameworks 5.34.0 and Qt 5.7.1.
"Netrunner 17.06 ships with an upgraded stack of KDE Plasma, Frameworks and Apps on top of an updated Debian Testing, plus the usual selection of applications like LibreOffice, Kdenlive, GIMP, Audacious, Steam, Skype, Transmission, VirtualBox, Krita, InkScape and many more," reads the release announcement.

As you can see, Netrunner 17.06 comes with numerous popular applications, some of which were updated to their latest versions. For example, the Mozilla Firefox 52.0 ESR (Extended Support Release) web browser and Mozilla Thundebird 52.1 email and news client are included by default in this latest ISO snapshot.
Under the hood, Netrunner 17.06 "Daedalus" is powered by a kernel from the long-term supported Linux 4.9 series, which is also used on the recently released Debian GNU/Linux 9 "Stretch" operating system. Apart from these updates, Netrunner 17.06 also ships with a new set of wallpapers and a more refined stack.
