14 DAY TRIAL // GNU/Linux developer Arne Exton informs Softpedia about the availability of a new build of his Debian-based DebEX LXQt Linux distribution, which has been rebased on some of the latest technologies and Open Source software projects.
DebEX LXQt (also known as DebEX Barebone) Build 161209 is now the most advanced version of the Linux-based computer OS. It's rebased on the Debian GNU/Linux 9 "Stretch" operating system, which is still in development and should hit the streets in early 2017, and the recently released Linux 4.9 kernel.
The newest LXQt 0.11.0 desktop environment is included as well, and DebEX LXQt now ships with the Nvidia 375.20 proprietary graphics driver for an out-of-the-box Nvidia GPU experience. As expected, all the pre-installed packages have been updated to their latest versions as of December 9, 2016.
Google Chrome replaced with TOR Browser, Refracta tools now available
Also new in DebEX LXQt Build 161209 is the addition of Refracta tools, a collection of utilities that make it easier for anyone to build their own Live CD/DVD ISO images based on the DebEX Barebone operating system and using the Debian Testing packages. Additionally, the Google Chrome web browser was replaced with Tor Browser.
"I have replaced Google Chrome with Tor Browser - it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location, and it lets you access sites which are blocked," said Arne Exton in the release announcement.
DebEX LXQt Build 161209 replaces Build 161025, which shipped with the Xfce 4.12 desktop environment, and you can download the Live ISO image right now from our website. Please keep in mind that the OS supports only 64-bit machines. You can now study the full list of pre-installed packages.
