Now that we've reported the fact that Montréal will be the host city for DebConf17, the 18th annual Debian conference, the time has come for you to learn everything there is to know about the upcoming DebConf16 event.

DebConf16 is the 17th annual conference for Debian developers, and it will take place in a little over three months from the moment of writing this article, between July 2-9, 2016, in Cape Town, South Africa.

However, you need to prepare your luggage way before July, as this year the Debian conference will be preceded by a fantastic nine days of DebCamp, the hacking session right before DebConf, which starts from Thursday, June 23 until Friday, July 1, 2016.

We also want to inform those who plan on attending the DebConf16 conference that registrations are now open, and if you require sponsorship for travel, accommodation, etc., you need to register yourself before Sunday, April 10, 2016.

If you've never traveled to South Africa before, the DebConf team has prepared some interesting materials that you need to read before attempting to register. But it is best to register anyway, as the registration can be cancelled just before the deadline above.

Before DebCamp & DebConf16 there will be Debian SunCamp 2016

DebConf is a major event for Debian developers; it is their main conference of the year, which gathers together existing and new Debian developers, as well as collaborators who want to share their knowledge, or make contributions to Debian GNU/Linux OS.

With this occasion, we would also like to remind you that this summer you can also attend the Debian SunCamp 2016 event, which will happen a month before DebConf16, between May 26-29, 2016, in the Province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain.

You should also visit the official DebConf16 website for more details!
