The Debian Project has proudly announced the dates, the schedule, and the venue for the annual meeting of all Debian developers, contributors, and supporters for 2015, DebConf15.

Therefore, we have the great pleasure of reporting today that the Debian Conference 2015 (DebConf15) event will take place between August 15 and August 22, 2015, in Heidelberg, making it the first ever DebConf to be held in Germany.

DebConf15 is the sixteenth Debian conference, and it aims to gather together existing and new Debian developers and collaborators who want to share knowledge, or make contributions to the Debian GNU/Linux operating system.

It would appear that DebConf15 will be the largest Debian Conference so far, as more than 550 people from 53 countries have already registered. The conference will kick off on the weekend of August 15 with an "Open Weekend" event where members of the public are invited to learn everything there is to know about the Debian Project.

"DebConf is of incredible importance to our community," says Neil McGovern, Debian Project Leader. "We work as volunteers around the clock from all parts of the world and personal interactions and friendships forged at DebConf have a noticeable impact on the quality of our work, and the motivation of all our contributors."

There will be renowned speakers at #DebConf15

The big surprise of the DebConf15 event will be the screening of the "Citizenfour" movie, where the Debian Project is mentioned in the end credits. Also, the project's 22nd anniversary will be celebrated with cake on the first day of the event, August 15, 2015.

Renowned speakers from all over the open-source ecosystem will take the stage to talk about trending topics like cloud, privacy, security, and much more. All the talks will be streamed in real time to the DebConf15's website. This year's platinum sponsor is Hewlett-Packard (HP).

While the registration for DebConf15 is free of charge, it is required for those who want to attend. More details can be found on the official website of the event. If you're tweeting about the Debian Conference this year, don't forget to use the #DebConf15 hastag on your posts.
