The developers of the darktable open-source and cross-platform RAW image editor application announced today the first point release to the major darktable 2.4 series.

darktable 2.4 arrived last Christmas with numerous new features and improvements, and now users can update to darktable 2.4.1, a minor maintenance release adding support for new digital cameras, including the Panasonic DC-G9 (4:3), Paralenz Dive Camera, Pentax KP, and Sjcam SJ6 LEGEND.

It also adds a new filter rule to the Collect module to allow users to more easily find locally copied images, enables blending and masking in the Hot Pixels module, adds a speed boost to the Grain module, implements a debug print when compiling OpenCL kernels, and supports stdout handling on Windows systems.

Besides that, darktable 2.4.1 lets users select the language for the graphical user interface (GUI) in the preferences, adds a "Favorite" toggle to the right-click pop-up menu for modules, as well as new keyboard shortcuts that allow users to zoom in and out (ctrl- and ctrl+), and pan (arrow keys) an image.

On Windows, darktable now displays the location of the log file in the help message. Other than that, users are now able to search in the more modules list by clicking on the list and then start typing. At the moment, the default CTRL+F GTK shortcut doesn’t work because it's being used by the filmstrip.

New white balance and noise presets, bug fixes

Today's darktable 2.4.1 release also adds white balance profiles for the Leaf Credo 40, Nikon D3400, Olympus E-M1 Mark II, Panasonic DC-G9, and Sony ILCE-7RM3 digital cameras, as well as noise profiles for Canon EOS M6, M100, 9000D, 77D, Rebel T6i, Kiss X8i, and 750D, as well as Sony DSC-RX100M4 and YI TECHNOLOGY M1.

Several bugs reported by users from previous releases were resolved as well in this release, and you can check out the full changelog below if you're curious to know what exactly was changed. Meanwhile, you can download darktable 2.4.1 for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Windows operating systems right now through our web portal.
